Wherein Matt gains a new fandom
So I finally found out that Castlevania III is available on the Virtual Console, so I shelled out a few bucks to get it. I got the cartridge off eBay years and years ago, you see, along with the first two games, but it turned out, the cartridge was defunct and I was pretty much gypped out of it. Until now.

Aaaaand now I think I've officially been upgraded to Castlevania fan.

Well, I got into it a little bit back when I first started playing the first two games, but I never really bothered to delve into the series's plot and characters back then.

Now I'm really itching to try out the Metroidvania-type games later in the series. I'm currently trying to work out how to get my hands on a copy of Symphony of the Night; preferably the PSP port. I mean, hey, CV3 is pretty cool, but the gameplay style of the later games looks downright awesome, and hell yeah I want a piece of that.

In the mean time, I'll just be over here getting the crap beaten out of me by gargoyles and wondering if I should have taken Grant instead of Sypha. Sigh.

Unrelated: Hahaha I want this so bad.

I'm HOPING that the PSP port will be easier to get my hands on... in fact, if I had the ability to take advantage of GameStop's online catalog, I know I could get it, because it's showing as in stock. But I lack a credit card, so I'd have to get my mom to order it and pay her for it. But I tried that approach, and she revealed that she was angry with me over an unrelated issue and didn't feel inclined to help.

Now I'm feeling put off to that approach, for various reasons, so I'm planning on raiding a few local game shops to see if they have it.

but yeah I wouldn't place any bets on my chances of getting the PSX version

Well, I mean it's all over eBay, but it's all like "ORIGINAL MINT CONDITION $$$$$" and I'm like "....I just wanna play it ;o;"

Apparently, though, I have a black-label copy of FFVII which could be worth up to $700.

The label up the side that says "Playstation" is black as opposed to...some other color I guess. I dunno. Game Informer was not very....informative.

...wait a minute

Discs one and two are black label, but disc three looks like a Greatest Hits disc.

I have no idea how badly that would affect its value, but... O_o;;

That's what I get for getting it used, I guess.

...I think it was used. I got it a long time ago, and I think it was a christmas or birthday gift.

...you know what's weird? I just checked my copy of FFIX, and... the case is from the Greatest Hits version, but the discs are black label.

Too bad there's that minor issue with the game freezing during the Bahamut/Alexander fight scene. orz
